Willi Ninja, rest in peace

So word is already out there and, since we have already written about Willi Ninja's recent health problems and hospital stay, let us join the rising chorus of voices mourning the passing of a true legend. Willi Ninja passed away this morning on a rainy and grey New York day.

I will let others tell the story:
I am sure a whole choir will speak up for this tremendous loss. And, yes, Paris will still be burning...

UPDATE: Over on his blog, Emanuel Xavier has updated information about a funeral service for Willi Ninja to be held this Friday in St. Albans, Queens. At the time of his passing, there were some hospital bills that still had to be paid and friends are trying to set up a way for people to donate and help his mother cover some of these expenses; below you can find information should you want to give a donation. Additional information about a fundraising event / memorial party tentatively set for November will be forthcoming. Aimee is also asking people who might have photos of Willi to send them to her at For the latest, you can visit Willi Ninja's MySpace page at which is being updated by Aimee. I will share additional information as it becomes more concrete (also, candlelight vigils are being organized in Chicago this Friday to coincide with Willi's funeral as well as Miami Beach though this comments doen't give a date).

Three of the most intriguing years of my life were spent by Willi Ninja's side. As his lover and then fiancée, he showed me so much and introduced me to so many great people. I was in the inner circle of some of the greats of our generation and was there to recount many stories. He was always good for a laugh and an EXCELLENT home-cooked meal. Willi Ninja will never be forgotten because he was, is, and always shall be LEGENDARY! Baby, I know you're up there, watching over Momma, me and all your chi'rren. You will be in our hearts forever!

Willi we will miss you!!!!

Dearest Willi,

I'm sorry I didn't get to say Goodbye in person but your vibrancy and Friendship will always remain in my heart... You where and Are "Legendary" and of course you were always the most "Fierce" You will be sadly missed and never replaced. Fond memories of Twelve West and your feather coat still float in my mind as I envision you on the dance floor and I see you envelop into Vogue with only the "Ninja Style" moves that you could carry off.....Thanks for being a friend through it all you always had a kind ear and a soft word for the weary.....Rest in Peace my Dear Willi and celebrate life in Heaven with the angels as you did on Earth your Grand Presence is now at the "After Party" and we will all catch up with you later. So its not Goodbye after all....
